Phase One redevelopment works are complete!
We were proud to reveal the modernising renovation works, completed during the Summer of 2023, to a group of excited Year 1, 2 and 6 pupils.
Phase one consisted of updating Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 classrooms and the library space to ensure it is fit for purpose and helps to inspire pupils during their learning journey. Alison Weir, Headteacher at Howard Community Academy, explains further on how the process began with partner Suffolk County Council:
Claudine Bateman, Director of Operations at Anglian Learning who is overseeing the developments, said “The delight and smiles from pupils and staff seeing their new teaching space requires no words.
Thank you to all who played a part in successfully designing, constructing and supported moving the first two phases of an ambitious project which will transform Howard Community Primary into an exciting teaching environment.”
Jonathan Culpin, CEO of Anglian Learning, said “After many months of planning, it is great to see the pupils of Howard Community Academy enjoying the first phase of several redevelopment works scheduled.
I had the privilege of being given a tour by Headteacher, Alison Weir, ahead of the reveal to pupils and was impressed by how much of an improvement the revamp has made to their learning environment.”
In 2017, the primary school moved into the middle school part of the site, which had outdated furnishings and unpractical learning environments. Joining Anglian Learning as an Academy in 2020, the leadership team have been working tirelessly since to revamp the academy, with seven phases currently under review. Tom Oakley, Deputy Head at Howard Community Academy, spoke further about the benefits the renovation has provided to pupils for their learning:
