PE and Sport Premium
What is the PE & Sport Funding?
The Government provides funding to support high-quality Physical Education (PE), physical activity and school sport in primary schools. During the 2026/27 academic year, national arrangements for this funding are transitioning from the former Primary PE and Sport Premium to new government arrangements for supporting school sport.
The funding is intended to help schools improve the quality of PE teaching, increase opportunities for pupils to be physically active, promote healthy lifestyles and wellbeing, and provide a broad range of sporting experiences for all children.
How are we using the funding at Howard Community Academy?
At Howard Community Academy we use our funding to provide high-quality PE and sporting opportunities that benefit all pupils. This includes:
- enhancing the quality of PE teaching through specialist coaching, training and professional development for staff
- providing pupils with access to a wide range of sporting activities and experiences
- promoting healthy, active lifestyles through initiatives such as swimming and Forest School
- increasing opportunities for participation in competitive sport and physical activity
- ensuring our PE provision is inclusive and accessible for every child.
Further details about how funding is allocated, spent and evaluated can be found in our PE & Sport Funding Strategy and associated reports, available in the downloads section below.
